Dear Clients,

"The" key component of any ISO certified company is the process of "continuous improvement." Over the past month, many of you have been solicited by our Customer Service Team to provide detailed answers to one of our customer satisfaction surveys.  Thank you for all the well thought out feedback!  The results are being compiled with the intention of developing new processes and/or procedures to address any specific problem areas that may be identified. Next month we will provide you with the results of those surveys in the CRI-SIL newsletter. Those of you that responded have already been entered in a drawing for a new Apple IPOD™ and in September we will announce the winner. All of us at CRI-SIL thank you for taking the time to provide so much insightful information that will help us become a better company as we strive for continuous improvement. We would also like to wish everyone good luck in the drawing!

TECHNICAL TIP

DID YOU KNOW:
Fluorosilicone can achieve ultra-low compression set?

When you need an elastomer that has many of the properties associated with silicone plus a wide operating temperature and good resistance to fuels and oils, fluorosilicone (FVMQ) is a great choice. One of the things that fluorosilicone doesn't typically give us is great compression set. With a little R&D CRI-SIL, came up with a solution. By adding a few proprietary ingredients we were able to modify a fluorosilicone compound (typical compression set of 15% to 20% when compressed 25% for 22hrs @ 350’F) and reduce the compression set to under 10%.  We were also able to take this same compound and compress it 336hrs @ 302’F and achieve a compression set under 25%.

DO YOU KNOW THIS PERSON?

Most companies these days have a Quality Manager or Quality department. CRI-SIL is no exception and we're proud to have not only a great QA Manager, but a retired U.S. Army First Sergeant.  Garnet Boudreau has been with CRI-SIL for more than 13 years.  Due to his hard-charging attitude, Garnet moved up the ladder quickly holding positions of floor operator, foreman, and Manufacturing Manager before being selected to head up our quality department.  In a few short years, Garnet has completely revised our ISO9001 system by integrating a proprietary software system called the Business Operating System (B.O.S.).  The B.O.S. ties all of our data systems together, provides detailed instructions on every process within CRI-SIL, tracks and maintains all of our key metrics, and much much more. His system completely eliminates the need for a hard copy ISO management book.  Each year he receives accolades from our external ISO quality auditors during recertification.  If you have any quality questions or would simply like to learn more about the B.O.S., please give Garnet a call (800.290.9192 x223) or email at gboudreau@crisil-silicones.com.

Additionally, if there is anything I can do for you, please do not hesitate to contact me at mcstevens@crisil-silicones.com or (800) 290-9192 extension 229. I would be more than happy to assist you in any of your endeavors.

Here's to a great 2009!

Best Regards,

Mark C. Stevens
