DID YOU KNOW:
Silicone can be formulated to have comparable
ABRASION RESISTANCE to organic polymers?
A study was performed using a Taber Abraser on various
silicone and organic polymers. In this study, various
high strength silicone compounds, general propose silicones, HNBR, NBR,
VAMAC, FKM ACM and CR were tested.
The results were enlightening; showing that by
utilizing a platinum cured, high strength silicone formulation, the
abrasion resistance was comparable with most organic polymers which are
considered to have excellent abrasion resistance.
